(Exercise Induced Pulmonary Haemorrhage)
the research institutes around the world use a system of grading horses
that bleed. This grading is from level 1 - 5.
Horses that are graded 1 - 3 have blood in the lungs and trachea
after exertion. levels 4-5 are much more severe leading to epistaxis (nosebleeds).
Once bleeding has reached this level the effectiveness of the patches
is greatly reduced. Therefore to get maximum effect the patches need to
be used at first signs of blood in the lungs and trachea.
We have also found that the effect of the patches on bleeders is
greatly increased if all sugar based feeds are cut from the horses diet.
